Covering the cost of hosting and all the other costs associated with having a website can be a challenge. However there is a way which you can earn money from your webiste which will cover those costs!

It is a little over 12 months ago that I started to work with the Google Adsense Programme. An Internet Marketing Introduction

October 13th, 2006

Today, most people access the internet for information, products and services. All entrepreneurs have turned their attention to the World Wide Web because it reaches so many people so quickly. Sales are increased dramatically and expenses are not necessarily smaller, but different. If a company had a small shop in a rural town, they would have employees and other expenses. If this same company had an online business, they would probably not have as many employees on the clock. They may have the same amount of expenses but they would be different. There would be advertising costs, web design costs, search engine optimization costs, affiliate or joint venture costs, among others.

Nevertheless, selling products or services online has become very popular for many new entrepreneurs ranging in all ages, even as young as 15. If you run a small business online where you sell an information product, such as an eBook, you can write the eBook yourself as a guru on the topic. For example, let’s say you studied religion in college and got a PH.D in this subject. You write up an eBook explaining a drastic point of view concerning scriptures. You make sure it is information packed and very good quality. You sell it for 14.95 dollars to whoever is interested and you get their email address so you can forward them new updated info. You now have an email list so you can keep in contact with your buyers and possibly sell them other products in the future. You keep track of all your sales, you take care of customer service, and you handle everything. Guess what? You keep 100 percent of the profits.

Obviously, some companies are MUCH more complicated than that. But you get the picture; online marketing is a piece of cake. All you need is an idea and an internet marketing business plan of action. In other words, you do not need millions to start up a company on the internet. All you need is a great idea and the drive to do most of the work yourself.

How To Generate An Avalanche Of Traffic For Your Website WITHOUT Using The Search Engines

September 24th, 2006

Search engines are gods in the World Wide Web, whether we like that fact or not. We are actually subservient to their whims, as 80% of the traffic we can generate for our websites will come from them. The success of our marketing campaigns will depend on their algorithms.

But there are traffic sources that are not connected with search engines at all. Your chances of success with these systems are better, as you won’t have to fall prey to the digital bureaucracy that search engines have become known for.

The results they provide are instant. Their efficiency relies solely on your execution.

1. Use a payment processor that has its own shopping system. Since you will need a means by which you can accept credit card payments, might as well choose a third party payment processor that will give your online business the exposure it needs. Clickbank and 2checkout are two such payment processors that have their own shopping areas. The fact that they’re quite renowned would also allow you to garner some affiliate who will help you sell your digital goods.

2. Take advantage of social networking websites. These websites, once known as dating portals, have experienced a renaissance in recent months. MySpace, for example, has been received two and a half times the traffic that Google is generating for its search engine. If you can tap into this vast network, you’d have an avalanche of traffic waiting to be unleashed. All you have to do is to create a profile in the said website, gain a lot of friends, and invite them to your own web page. Friendster and Multiply are similar social networking websites that also deserve a second look.

3. Blog and ping. Web logs are online journals that have commanded a lot of following. They have their own audience. A lot of blog directories exist to help blog “addicts” find a web log they can religiously follow. By setting up a blog that will promote your business website, and pinging the blog directories every time you publish a new entry, you’d be informing hundreds of thousands of blog aficionados about your blog, and you can generate tons of traffic to your website.

4. Tag and ping. The newest kid on the block, the tag and ping method is the hottest way of harnessing traffic for your blog. Websites like Technorati and Del.icio.us are blog directories that act as user-driven search engines as well. Instead of keywords, they use tags. Tags are words or phrases you can use to classify your blogs and blog entries. You’re in control. Every tag will have its own landing page, and the newest entry to be submitted will be found on top of the list for that page. This is an excellent way to achieve prominence for your blog, and eventually, for your business website.

5. Use Digg. The website www.Digg.com is like a repository of the best articles in the World Wide Web. Articles can be submitted to this service, and readers can vote for the articles they like. The articles which receive the most number of votes will appear on the main page, and this will drive tens and thousands of traffic for your website. One article can have a temporal effect when it comes to a traffic spike, but submit articles regularly and you have a goldmine with this service.

6. Viral marketing. Distribute an eBook, a special report, a software program or even a novelty digital item for free. Make sure that such a freebie will carry your business message, i.e. a link to your business website. If such a freebie is valuable enough for Internet users, they will distribute the same to the members of their own network. The result is an exponential, unceasing spread of your viral message to potentially millions and millions of people at such a rapid pace.

5 Easy Steps to Creating Your Own Viral Video

August 13th, 2006

As I mentioned in my main Blog at Paul Duxbury - Internet Marketing Success Videos are hot news right now!

Creating your own viral video is not as difficult as it seems. In fact, it’s quite easy. You can have your own viral video raking in a lot of traffic for your website in 5 simple steps. Yes – 5 simple steps!

Study the guidelines in this article and soon enough, you’ll realize the tremendous power of online videos as marketing tools.

Step One: It All Begins With A Concept

To make your video go viral, there should be enough substance in it that will satisfy your viewers, and that will compel them to share the same with the people they know.

Ask yourself: what do you want to see in a video? How can you relate this to the subject that your business is catering to?

Finding that killer concept is not something that you can force out of your mind. It just happens. A burst of inspiration transpires when we least expect it. We may simply be reading a novel or the dailies and that amazing idea will arrive.

Always carry a pen and a notebook with you. Try to jot down the ideas that suddenly pop up now and then. This way, you’d have a list ready by the time there will be a need for a concept you can carry out.

Step Two: Prepare Your Script

Having a script before you start filming is essential. Your script will dictate the conduct of your video. It’s your outline as well as your bible. It’s the one material that will tell you if your video will sink or fly, even before you start creating the same.

Take time to tweak your script. Make an honest appraisal. Is it hokey? Is it contrite? Or does it perfectly convey whatever it is you want to convey?

Step Three: Gather Appropriate Pictures

Filming your own footage will take some time, so we will try devising a movie from still images instead. For this, we will need, well, still images.

You can’t use every image you’ll see in the World Wide Web. You must make sure that the images are royalty-free and restrictions-free.

The best resource I can recommend is www.sxc.hu . This is an amazing website that contains a wide selection of royalty-free and restrictions-free stock images which you can use. Finding the appropriate images will take hours, given the depth of the selection. But it is guaranteed that you’ll have lots of fun!

Step Four: Get Your Tools, Start Making Your Video

You will need the following programs:

1. MS Powerpoint
2. Camtasia or CamStudio

You will use MS Powerpoint to create the presentation. Powerpoint is easy to use. It will allow you to direct the scrolling and sliding of your images, the placement, entrance and exit of your texts, and the inclusion of background music.

Camtasia or CamStudio will allow you to film the resultant presentation on screen as it plays. This will give you an avi file which you can manipulate. You can convert this to another file format that is smaller for your purposes.

Do not forget to include a link to your main website in the presentation you will prepare.

Step Five: Sharing Your Video To The World

Once your video is finished, it’s time to share it with a global audience. The best way to reach this audience is by uploading your video to highly visited websites.

The website www.youtube.com garners millions of visitors per day. Furthermore, the website allows its users to share the videos uploaded therein, or post them in their blogs or websites. Uploading your video in YouTube will instantly give such a product the viral effect it needs.

The same holds true for www.videos.google.com .

Ten Things That Marketers Should Be, But Are Not, Including On Their Sales Page

July 9th, 2006

The purpose of your sales page is to sell your product. But this isn’t accomplished all the time. Why? Because chances are, readers aren’t getting a clear idea about the value of the product or package being offered.

This, however, can be remedied by including some things in your sales page.

1. The amount of time you spent in preparing your product. This may be in weeks or in months. Nevertheless, your readers should know that it took you a long period of time to prepare the product, either because it took that long to research its content, or it took that long to test the procedures contained therein. Such will immediately add value to the product, as your readers will realize that your offer isn’t something that was hastily prepared overnight.

2. The financial investment you have made in preparing the product. You may have spent some cash in having the product prepared. Or you may have spent some cash in testing the methods you have delineated therein. Mention the price it cost you, as this will most certainly add value to the finished product. Put yourself in your readers’ shoes. Would you prefer a product that someone created without spending a single cent, or a product that someone spent thousands of dollars on to ensure the finest quality possible?

3. The size of the product. If you’re offering an information product, this may be expressed in terms of page count or file size, whichever would look more attractive. As a rule, if you’re offering a voluminous work of more than 80 pages, don’t be afraid to mention the page count. If you’re offering a product with fewer pages but with lots of graphics, mention the file size in kilobytes (KB) to make it appear meaty.

4. The rights that come with the product. If you’re offering resale or master resale rights with your product, do not forget to mention the parameters of such license. Also, do not fail to mention the benefits that your customers will receive from the same. Do not market it as a mere product. Market it as a business they can earn from, because that’s what resale and master resale rights provide… an income stream for the owner of the rights.

5. The freshness of the product. If your product has never been offered before, mention that fact as well. One of your prospects’ fears is that they might end up buying a redundant product, something which is similar to what they have invested on before. Your product itself may be new, or the ideas you will share are novel. Mention these in your sales page.

6. The exclusivity of the product. If your product is not offered anywhere else, more so when it will not be offered anywhere else after your campaign is finished, mention the same. This will compel your readers to seriously consider your offer. Exclusivity is a great motivator.

7. The razor’s edge. Have you decided to take a irreverent, take-no-prisoners approach with your product? Mention that fact as well. Psychology will show us that deep down inside, everyone loves a rebel. There is more truth to a rebel’s words, after all.

8. Other people’s words about your product. Testimonials can instantly boost your stock. People will trust someone else’s words about your offer than your words about your own product. Testimonials carry a sense of objectivity, after all. Just make sure that you’ll publish only the favorable ones.

9. The bonuses the come with your product. In internet marketing, bonuses have become a necessity. Bonuses instantly increase the perceived value of your package. They also speak so much about your ability to over-deliver. However, offering a product without bonuses can also work to your advantage, for as long as you’d market it correctly. Tell them that your product is very valuable as it is that it doesn’t need any bonuses to jack up its value and you’d be surprised at the response you will receive.

10. An efficient call to action. Many marketers believe that calls to action should be delivered at the end of the sales page. This is a mistake. Calls to action should be delivered even when the sales page begins. These calls to action can be in the form of methods that will pull your readers into your offer by making them know that what you have to offer concerns them. Your calls to action should eventually grown more powerful, so that in the end, when you deliver your coup de grace, they’d have no recourse but to say yes.
