My weekly update is a little earlier than usual this week as my partner is due to have an operation on their knee very early next Monday. As you can imagine we will be a little busy getting ready this weekend!
GenMates and Social Networking
Our Social Networking site for Genealogists continue to attract massive publicity with yet another interview being featured in the press. As a result membership continues to grow at a tremedous rate and we are seeing over 600 unique visitors per day! If you haven’t checked out GenMates yet then we look forward to seeing you there soon!
Talking of Social Networking we have a number of new sites planned for the coming year which I think you will find of interest - so as they say “watch this space” for more news!
Blogging
As you may be aware I have a number of very successful Niche Blogs and various subscribers have asked me recently if I have any information on how to Blog. If you go to Blogging for All you can find free report covering some of the basics of blogging. If you are interested in looking at how to Earn Money From Blogging you just need to click on that link to look at a very interesting package that will really help you. Finally if you have mastered making money from blogs but are interested in really increasing your readership then you need to take a look at Increasing Your Blog Readership.
Did You See The News?
If you are in the UK then you cannot fail to have seen the news items on Obesity which is an increasing problem both here and in the US. Childhood Obesity in particular appears to be increasing massivly and is a real cause for concern for any parent. Given the issues that this is clearly causing we wanted to make our very popular Childhood Obesity ebook available to as many people as possible so have massively reduced the price for a limited time. Just click on Childhood Obesity and you can see what is covered and the advice it gives in dealing with the problem. I hope the limited time price reduction will help anyone who needs help with this problem the opportunity to grab a copy.
1911 Census Petition
Again we have been getting massive publicity for the 1911 Census Petition and in a short time we have well over a 1,000 signatures!
Our Genealogy and Scrapbooking Audio Articles are currently being developed as well as the informative Scrapbooking Blog! Add to that the Squidoo Lens that we have created at Scrapbooking Ideas and you can see that we are continuing to develop a while range of sites that meet your needs! if you have any ideas for new sites or additions that you would like to see then just drop me a line or leave a comment here!

Hope that your week has been good and that you are enjoying the weekend?
It’s been another busy week for us and several of our sites have been featured in National Magazines in the UK!
Our Get The 1911 Census Online Petition has been fetaured in Your Family Tree and we have seen lots more signatures added, if you haven’t signed it already then do op along and join our Campaign!
In addition GenMates - The Genealogy MySpace has been featured in a half page spread in Family History Monthly and we have already seen a flood of new members. GenMates is absolutely our members site and unlike other Genealogy Sites our members create the content!
We are also looking to develop our resources for Genealogists and others with a new site which will have Audio Articles on it! So in addition to reading the articles you will also be able to listen to the articles at your leisure. Initial feedback from those we have asked to try the concept has been very positive and we may well look at offering the audio articles for sale at a reasonable price so that people can listen to them on the move! So get your iPods ready! The first articles will cover Genealogy and Scrapbooking. In the meantime you can also check out our existing Genealogy Articles site.
Squidoo
You may have read my comments elsewhere about Squidoo which I think is a fascinating site. It fits in so neatly with my passion for providing information to people which empowers them to make real changes in their lives. From a marketing perspective I also think it offers great opportunities and I have already seen the benefits of quite a lot of additional traffic to other sites. if you haven’t already taken a look at my Squidoo Lenses here are a few:
Genealogy and Family History
Hobbies For You
The Blogging Guide
Make Money From Blogging
Family, Home and Garden
How to be a Success in Niche Marketing
I also have a collaborative project going on at the moment with a number of experts in their fields which I will be talking about shortly! If you haven’t started your own lens yet then you can do so here: Squidoo and have the potential to earn an extra $5!
Finally for today! I don’t know about you but I like to be able to read reviews of things that I am considering buying and that’s one of the reasons I have gotten involved with Clickbank Reviews - you can tak a look and let me know what you think!
Have a great week!

Normally I send out a newsletter to all our subscribers each week but this time I thought that I would bring you our weekly (ish) update through my main blog!
Welcome New Subscribers!
Firstly can I extend a very warm welcome to the 600+ new subscribers who have joined us in the last 10 days! It’s great to have you with us and hopefully you will find an absolute mine of information here and at our various sites.
That was The week That Was!
Well what a week or so it has been! As those of you who have read my post “The Worst Web Hosts Ever” will know we have been having a fraught time with 1and1.co.uk. This has been rumbling on now for nearly three weeks and there are four domains which they still seem to be incapable of transferring to HerosHosting who are my preferred Web Hosts.
I haave been fortunate that Jeffery Ash has excelled himself in terms of personal support in getting things sorted and hopefully in the next few days we will be able to bring this all to a conclusion! Jeffery really is an absolute superstar and what is more he offers my subscribers a very special deal! If you have been thinking of moving to a new host (especially if you are with 1and1.co.uk!) or have been thinking about setting up your own website then I cannot recommend Jeffery highly enough. Take a look at what he has to offer at Heroshosting.
New Domain Names
To get round the problems in the short term we have registered a few new domain names to cover some of our most popular domains so if you are looking for any of the following then click on the links and you will be taken there:
The Amateur Genealogist
Our Family Trees
Rose Gardening Success
Achieve Success Online
We have also taken the opportunity to register a few new domains for some of our inredibly popular Blogs. Two in particular that I know will be of interest at this time of year are:
The Genealogy Blog
The Landscaping Ideas Blog
Fame!
You know, I cannot pick up a Genealogy Magazine or indeed a few other magazines at the moment without finding my name in it! It’s okay it’s all very positive stuff! GenMates (our Genealogy MySpace Alternative) has really got people talking. We now have approaching 600 members since we launched about 6 weeks ago - which is not a bad achievement is it! Members are creating their own Groups and Forums, Blogging and sharing their interests and generally taking advantage of all the great features.
So if you haven’t logged in recently or heaven forbid haven’t joined us yet then you can pop along to GenMates once you have finished reading here!
Our Get the 1911 Census Online Petition is also about to be featured in several magazines! I am sure we shall see the current excellent 580 signatures exceeded very quickly.
Freebies!
If you haven’t already downloaded my Introduction to Scrapbooking eBook which is free of charge then just click on the link to be taken there!
I have always been a great exponent of Vision Planning and the benefits it brings. I have put together an overview of Vision Planning with some helpful tools within it which are essentially what I use - they are also what some companies have paid me handsomely to deliver as a training session
They are here for you to use and to share with your own subscribers and friends and not even an email address required! So just right click on Guide to Planning for 2007 to download your copy aand save it to your own hard drive!
Finally…
Would you like to hear my dulcid tones LOL Well, I am currently putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard more like) and writing the eBook that explains how we have created a successful Internet Business during the past twelve months. To get on the notification list for the launch of “Are Successful Internet Marketers Really from Pluto?” just click on the link.
Have a great week and thanks for reading!

As regular readers will be aware I am a keen Genealogist or Family Historian. I am pleased to be able to report that we are trying to do something to help other Genealogists!
The UK Government continues to claim that the 1911 UK Census Returns are confidential. They claim that they cannot be released under the 100 Year Rule despite the fact that the UK Freedom of Information Act 2005 should make them available.
The reluctance of the UK Government to release this information continues to confound Family Historians and a Petition has been launched to attempt to get them to reconsider their position. The petition can be signed at Get The 1911 Census Online
Genealogists are asking why when Northern Ireland saw the release of both the 1901 Census and the 1911 Census in 1960; the Freedom of Information Act 2005 removed the restrictions placed on the release of information and prior to 1911 the average release period for Census Returns was 80 years they cannot have access to the 1911 UK Census information.
Genealogists and Family Historians would derive immense benefit from being able to further research their Family Histories if the 1911 Census Returns were made available. We recognise that the release of the census returns after 100 years is determined by long-standing government policy however the Freedom of Information Act 2005 supersedes that policy. We also acknowledge that the 1911 census form included the following emphatic assurance to householders: ´The contents of the Schedule will be treated as confidential. Strict Care will be taken that no information is disclosed with regard to individual persons.´ Again this is superseded by the Freedom of Information Act 2005.
